who is this guy?
"This above all: To thine own self be true..." Alas, for better or worse, it has always been my life's course to take the path less traveled. And therefore, my portrait begins with an inscription on the temple of Apollo at Delphi: Gnothi seauton (Know thyself). Self-knowledge is an elusive and tricky thing. A reflection is by definition a similarity; between the image and the material falls the shadow. Knowledge itself is suspect. In the words of a twentieth century writer: "What can we know? That is, what can we be sure we know, or sure that we know we knew it, if indeed it is at all knowable. Or have we simply forgotten it and are too embarrassed to say anything?" With knowledge suspect, how to describe the sum that makes up an individual, that differentiates one's life from the few human stories that go on repeating themselves as fiercely as if they had never happened before? One needs to look no further than the Sunday paper: the personals: DWM.
Well there it is. If you would like to know more, as indeed, dear reader, I would like to know more about you, let's us converse through the Internet fog, and talk of life, as it unravels, twists, and tangles...
